Captain & Crew
Lacoovs operates as a bareboat charter marketplace. When you book a vessel, you take on temporary responsibility as charterer. A licensed USCG captain is required unless you hold an appropriate license. Once booked, you'll receive our approved captain roster — you select and engage your captain directly. Captain fees ($100–$125 per hour of charter) are paid directly to your captain, separate from your vessel booking.
Vessel Booking
Book the vessel (hull only). Bareboat charter agreement signed. Guest assumes temporary charterer responsibilities.
Captain Selection
Post-booking: receive approved captain roster. You select, contact, and pay your captain directly ($100–$125/hr). This is a separate transaction outside Lacoovs.
Captain Requirement
Vessels 26' and under: hold a valid USCG license? No captain required. Otherwise, a captain must be arranged before the charter proceeds.
